Page Estimation
Typeloom shows estimated pages in the workspace footer as a project-level planning metric.
What affects the estimate
- total project word count
- total character count, including spaces
- selected paper size
- orientation
- margins
- typography settings such as font size and line spacing
- template profile, especially for screenplay versus prose-like writing
What the estimate is for
Use it to answer questions like:
- roughly how long is this draft now
- what happens if I switch from A4 to Letter
- how much longer is the manuscript after a revision pass
It is not meant to replace a final exported page count.
How Typeloom calculates it
The model estimates:
- the usable page area after margins
- the approximate number of characters per line
- the approximate number of lines per page
- the effective capacity of a page based on writing profile
- a blended page estimate based on both words and characters
The footer always shows at least one page.
Why template choice matters
Screenplay pages behave differently from article or novel pages because the text blocks are narrower and more structured. That is why the same amount of text can produce a different estimate when you switch templates.
How to use this number
Treat the footer estimate as a planning tool for pacing, scope, and export expectations. For exact final pagination, use an export preview or the exported file itself.
